Seriously. If you're a guitar player, even if you've just recently picked up the instrument, you shouldn't practice. You should simply play.
"Practice" implies doing something rote. Boring. Redundant. Dissatisfying. Whatever instrument you're offered in school may require practice. Learning math equations may require practice. But guitar is personal. It's about you. Your self expression and your goals. You can be as good as Jimi or as simplistic as Kurt, as long as that's the real you.
The greatest players—the ones who enjoy it so much they can't stop; the ones whose names you know and love—have never practiced. They just played. Some played a lot and learned to shred. Some learned four chords and put words to them that changed the world. But either way, they did it because they loved it. And because it served who they are.
If you want to be a great guitarist like them, you too need to love it. Love it so much it never feels like practice. It just feels like play. If it feels like practice, you might have picked up the wrong instrument or maybe, you just need to see guitar, in a different way.
Either way, don't practice. Just play.
